We had fun learning our letters!

This week we spent lots of time working on our letters and sounds.  We read the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and loved it!  Each child made coconut trees that spelled out their names - too cute!

Then we had a yummy snack that was delicious and healthy!

Week Two

We did begin our reading groups today and the students did very well.  We are working on the Mm and its sound - mmmmmmm!

Also, we made our 1st trip to the library today and the children loved picking out their "own" book.  Please make sure they return the book tomorrow after you all read it & log it on their homework book log.  They will not be able to check out another book on Wednesday without returning the one that was checked out today.

The 1st homework packet went home today.  Please only do the activities listed for each day because these "habits" build future study skills.  The popcorn words list for the entire year was in the folder too.  I have had many parents ask for these words, so I decided to send it out to everyone!

Thanks for all of the signed couriers and behavior letters today!

Day two was WONDERFUL too! :)

Today was another great day for us at school.  We were very busy and worked the entire day away.  We did begin working in our first Harcourt Math Unit today and the students did very well.  We are working on above, below and beside at this time.

This was their first trip to the gym and they were very excited.  It was very hot outside, so they had lots of water on their trip back to our classroom.  This afternoon we spent lots of time creating "The Kissing Hand" quilt and it is being displayed in our classroom.  This was a listening activity and they turned out beautifully!

Afterwards, we made a friendship salad (fruit salad) and talked about the type of classroom we wanted to have this year.  Make sure you ask your child about the "rotten banana!"  I am looking so forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

1st Day of Kindergarten! =)

Our 1st day of Kindergarten was a wonderful one!  We received 3 more students first thing this morning and they just fit right in!  We talked a lot about our classroom routines and rules.  We reviewed our numbers and practice counting.  Then we read "The Kissing Hand" and had some yummy "kissing hand" cookies.  We finished out the day with a little center time because the children had worked so hard for me all day.  I hope everyone has a great night and please remember to get plenty of rest for tomorrow!  Thanks to all of my parents for the supplies!

The Kissing Hand Cookies! YUM-O!
